Biblical Languages (RBLA) 224: Elementary Koine II

A continuing study of the grammar of the Greek New Testament, emphasizing nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and simple sentence structure.  Prerequisites: BLA 214.  Four hours, Spring.

Summers, Ray.  Essentials of New Testament Greek, Revised.  Revised by Thomas Sawyer.  Nashville: Broadman & Holman Publishers, 1995.

Texts (suggested):

Aland, Kurt et al.  The Greek New Testament.  4th Edition.  Stuttgart: United Bible Societies, 1993.

Thayer, Joseph Henry.  A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament.  Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1977.  (Paper)

Objectives:

        1. To learn the essential data of koine Greek.
        2. To analyze the New Testament in light of that data.

Scope: Koine Greek.

Assignments:
          1. Daily assignments come out of each chapter and will be checked periodically.  Two hundred points can be obtained through these assignments.
          2. Daily quizzes will be given at random.  Two hundred points maximum can be earned through these quizzes.
            3. A 1 John workbook must be kept.  This can earn one hundred points

Tests:
1. Test: three one hundred point tests will be given.
2. Final: a two hundred point final will be given.

Grading:
        A (100%-94%): B (93%-84%): C (83%-71%): D (70%-61%): F (60%-00%)
